Discover Sesamo Nero

Walking into Sesamo Nero on Via dei Bastioni, 91, 65128 Pescara PE, Italy, feels like slipping into a neighborhood spot that quietly knows exactly what it’s doing. I stopped by on a busy weekday evening after hearing locals mention it in casual reviews, and the room was already buzzing with a mix of regulars and curious first-timers scanning the menu with that familiar look of anticipation.

What immediately stands out is how the place balances comfort with curiosity. The menu doesn’t try to overwhelm you. Instead, it guides you through a thoughtful selection of dishes that lean on quality ingredients and careful preparation. Watching the kitchen at work, you can see a clear process: sauces simmered patiently, plates assembled with intention, and dishes sent out only when they’re right. That kind of rhythm usually comes from experience, not shortcuts.

During my visit, I ordered a couple of house specialties recommended by the staff. One dish featured hand-prepared sauces, and another leaned heavily on toasted seeds and aromatic oils. Black sesame, known in food science for its high antioxidant content and healthy fats, is often praised in nutritional research published by organizations like the National Institutes of Health. Here, it’s not used as a gimmick but as a grounding flavor that adds depth and a subtle nuttiness. The result is food that feels indulgent yet balanced, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

I chatted briefly with a server who explained that many ingredients are sourced with consistency in mind rather than trendiness. That approach shows. Studies from the European Food Information Council often highlight that diners value reliability and transparency in restaurants more than novelty alone, and this place seems to understand that instinctively. You taste it in the way flavors stay clean and focused instead of competing on the plate.

The location itself adds to the experience. Being set along Via dei Bastioni makes it easy to reach, whether you’re walking through the city or planning a relaxed dinner out. Several online reviews mention how convenient it is to stop by without feeling rushed, and I’d agree. Even when the room fills up, the pace stays calm. Plates arrive warm, drinks are refreshed without hovering, and conversations flow easily.

From a professional standpoint, what impressed me most was consistency. I’ve reviewed diners where the first bite is great but the rest falls flat. Here, each course held up. That kind of steadiness usually comes from well-documented kitchen methods and a team that understands them. Culinary experts often note that repeatable processes are the backbone of successful restaurants, and this spot seems built on that principle.

Of course, no place is perfect. The menu isn’t massive, so if you’re looking for endless options, you might feel slightly limited. That said, the focused selection means fewer compromises, and for most diners, that trade-off feels worth it. Information about sourcing is shared verbally rather than written, so guests who want deeper detail may need to ask.

Overall, the experience feels honest. The food reflects thoughtful choices, the service feels human rather than scripted, and the setting invites you to stay a little longer than planned. It’s the kind of diner you recommend not because it’s flashy, but because you trust it to deliver a good meal every time.

  • Everything was extremely delicious! Best vegan food so far in pescara we also had a canolli desert that was divine. Service was also 10/10 and the girl was so dedicated to explain everything in English which was also very lovely. Thank you for everything

  • Everything was delicious and vegan. For antipasto we ordered pita and hummus, for primo we had the gnocchi with zucchini and the paccheri, for secondo we shared the vegan kebab and shared a creme brulee. My favorites were the paccheri, vegan kebab and creme brulee. Highly recommend whether you're vegan or not.

  • Visiting ortona and finally drove out to eat in Pescara. Had gnocchi and tempura veggies and well as the "meat"balls and everything was super delicious. I didn't get a picture of the canoli but they are amazing! Mostly vegan options!

  • Food was delicious, well presented. You can tell when a restaurant put some thought behind a dish and this was definitely the case. While starter and mains were very good, the desserts really blow my mind. Service was great, totally recommended

  • Be SURE to get a reservation! The place is small and they don’t really “turn tables”. The food was excellent and the service was tops. Sweet atmosphere and it seems to be very popular with the locals.
